Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa

The Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa is a type of permanent residency visa for skilled workers who have been nominated by an Australian employer.

The Subclass 186 visa has three streams:

1. The Subclass 186 Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) Stream.
2. The Subclass 186 Direct Entry (DE) Stream.
3. The Subclass 186 Labour Agreement Stream.

 

The Subclass 186 TRT Visa

If you’re a holder of a Subclass 482 TSS visa (or a combination of Subclass 482 and 457 visas) and have been working for the same employer for at least three years while holding your TSS visa, then you may be eligible for a subclass 186 visa in the TRT stream. However, if a concession applies, you may only need to have worked for two years. In addition, your employer must be willing to nominate you for the visa.

 

The Subclass 186 Direct Entry Stream is designed for individuals who:

• Have occupations listed on the Medium and Long-Term Skilled Occupation List (MTSOL)
• Meet the skills assessment requirements for their occupation
• Have at least three years of skilled work experience (post qualification level) in their occupation
• Are nominated by an Australian employer for a Subclass 186 Visa.

 

The Subclass 186 Labour Agreement Stream

A subclass 186 visa in the Labour Agreement Stream is for individuals holding Subclass 482 visas in the Labour Agreement Stream. This stream is only available to those who have been nominated by an employer that is a party to an approved Labour Agreement. Typically, applicants in this stream are required to have held their Subclass 482 visas for a minimum of three years.
